We are a contemporary, family-oriented Methodist church that began as a purely dialect-speaking church in 1918. Over the years we have incorporated worship services in Cantonese, English and Mandarin to accommodate the changing needs of our community and society. The glue that binds the different congregations together is our value of unity in diversity.

While reaching Cantonese speakers continues to be a mission of Kum Yan Church, our scope has broadened over the years. We have a thriving children’s ministry as well as a vibrant youth ministry. We are conducting Alpha Courses, and other evangelistic events in Cantonese, English and Mandarin.

Paya Lebar Chinese Methodist Church was founded in 1939 with the commission to spread the Gospel to the residents in Hougang. Presently, PLCMC is still obeying that call. This is reflected in the vision statement “Build Up, Reach Out”. With our multilingual congregations – Hokkien, Mandarin, Teochew, and English, we have the potential to share Jesus Christ with the new residents who have moved into the Hougang area over the past few years. With God’s help and the Spirit’s empowering, we can fulfil the call of the Great Commission.

Queenstown Chinese Methodist Church stands as a testimony of the connection between the CAC and the Trinity Annual Conference. It was in 1964 that both the conferences came together to make possible the building, which houses both QCMC as well as Faith Methodist Church. QCMC’s continual upgrading speaks of the church’s desire to be constantly relevant in a rapidly changing society.

In the late 1990s, God’s hand sowed the seeds of ministry that would eventually form Sengkang Methodist Church (SKMC) – as He gave three independent Methodist churches the same vision of beginning ministries in the then-emerging housing estate of Sengkang. Gloria Methodist Church, as it was then known, became like a kernel of wheat which “dies” so that it may “produce many seeds” (John 12:24), as it approved the transfer of all its active members into the new church, alongside members from Hakka Methodist Church and Paya Lebar Chinese Methodist Church. On September 10, 2000, SKMC was constituted as a local conference of the Chinese Annual Conference (CAC).

Toa Payoh Chinese Methodist Church was neither planned for nor budgeted and built by its own members. Instead, its establishment was made possible by the joint sponsorship of Foo Chow Methodist Church, in conjunction with other Methodist churches.

On 8 September 1971, Faith Methodist Church set up a committee to plant a church. The church building project was completed in August 1973 and established as a local conference on 14 August 1977. In 1988, both the English and Mandarin pastors and leaders received a vision of rebuilding the church and the two local conferences signed a memorandum of understanding for the church rebuilding in 2005. The rebuilding project commenced in March 2008 and Bishop Wee Boon Hup presided over the sanctuary dedication service on 31 August 2013.

At present, Toa Payoh Chinese Methodist Church runs three worship services: The Chinese Worship Service, the Hokkien Worship Service, and New Life Worship. The mission of Toa Payoh Chinese Methodist Church is to “Lead People to the Lord, to be the Lord’s Disciples.” We pray that our Lord Jesus Christ will continue to raise pastors, leaders, and members to enter the society and shine for Christ, that people will be led to God by His grace to experience salvation and worship Christ Jesus who has received all authority in heaven and on earth.
