The Women’s Society of Christian Service (WSCS) is an integral part of The Methodist Church in Singapore. All Methodist women who embrace its purpose and participate in its works are members of the Local WSCS. This also makes them members of the larger Annual Conference and General Conference WSCS. There are a total of 13 Local CAC WSCS Chapters. Check out the Chinese Annual Conference Women’s Society of Christian Service (WSCS) 2020-2022 Executive Committee List here.
The WSCS ministries centre on four main pillars to help Methodist women find a place of belonging where they can serve God, grow together as sisters in Christ and encourage each other in their Christian walk. Programmes and activities are planned and organised with the intent of these four areas of ministries; Discipleship & Nurture, Missions, Outreach & Social Concerns and Witness & Evangelism. They provide a platform for women to be equipped in the areas of leadership and servanthood for the general ministry of the local church.
Areas of ministry such as the prison ministry, care for the blind, the sick in hospital, the educationally sub-normal girls and women in crisis were identified to create opportunities for the WSCS women to serve God by serving the less fortunate.
Purpose
- To help women grow in the knowledge and experience of God as revealed in Jesus Christ;
- To challenge them to respond to God’s redemptive fellowship;
- To make Christ known throughout the world; and
- To develop a personal responsibility for the whole task of the Church.
