Pastors’ Retreat 2021

A little over 60 of our CAC pastors managed to catch some rest from their church and ministry duties to enjoy some time in the company of fellow servants of God. The 4-day CAC Pastor’s Retreat began with an Opening service on 16 August and ended with a Closing service on 19 August. Our pastors convened at Toa Payoh Chinese Methodist Church for both services.
Covid-19 has taken a toll on everyone, even if we were not amongst the nearly 100,000 in Singapore who caught the virus. In his opening address, President Rev Dr. Gregory Goh acknowledged that this season has been physically and mentally draining for all. He also shared the thoughts that transpire whenever he visits nature or observes the creations of God. 1) We can find peace and rest knowing that everything God has created is under His abounding care. 2) We can find joy and healing in God’s glory that is revealed in the beauty of His Creation. 3) We can find motivation and strength knowing that every part of Creation is right where He intends them to be, including each one of us and whichever ministry He has called us to in each season.

During this Retreat, our pastors also gathered on Zoom to hear from Rev Dr. Daniel Koh, who was invited to speak on topics relating to the Methodist Social Principles and Ethics. They were then also given time in their breakout rooms to reflect and share their takeaways. (All pastors are welcomed to email cac.resources@gmail.com to request for the audio recordings of the 3 talks [English]).
Although a fully physical retreat could not be executed, our pastors were still able to share key moments of praise and worship, prayer, as well as fun and games in person. By God’s grace, given the volatile dining and social gathering regulations, they even had the opportunity to meet in small groups to fellowship over meals during the 4-day period.

We give thanks for the heart that our pastors have for Christ and His people. May God continue to bless and watch over them and their families, and use them mightily for His kingdom. May we, all who are members of the body of Christ, also grow in our zeal to serve God and His Church by the grace and gifts we have been given.
